THE PROFILE OF PGRI

(TEACHERS ASSOCIATION OF THE REPUBLIC OF INDONESIA)

 

 

1.  NAME OF ORGANIZATION::

Persatuan Guru Republik Indonesia (Teachers Association of the Republic of Indonesia,  abreviated “PGRI”, has founded in Novenber 25, 1945 just 100 days after independence proclamation on August 17, 1945. PGRI based on state ideology and philosophy Pancasila and 1945 Constitution.

 

 

2.  LEGALITY AND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT:

  1. PGRI was registered at Departement of Justice by decree of Justice Minister on November 20, 1945, number: I.A.5/82/2
  2. As a trade-union organization, PGRI was register at Manpower Departement on August 10, 1999, number: 370/M/BW/1999

 

 

3.  THE IDENTITIES AND CHARACTERISTICS OF PGRI

PGRI is the national organization with identities as a strugling, a professional, and a trade union organization, with some characteristics as follow

  1. Unitaristic: its mean that someone can be a member of PGRI without discrimination of religion, race or ethnic, gender, educational certification level,  where he or she is working as well as what position he or she is.
  2. Independent: its mean that PGRI based on the self-help or outonomous organization principles and has an equal position to other group.
  3. Non-political practice: its mean that PGRI is not a part of any political parties or other political organization.

 

4. VISION AND MISSION

 

PGRI to be a strong, independent, democratic, quality and professional organization in building education future toward Indonesian State in the unity, culture and competitive

 

4.  THE OBJECTIVES OF PGRI:

a.     To realize the ideas of independence proclamation of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, to defense, to secure, and to implement the democracy and human rights based on Pancasila and 1945 Constutution;

b.     Take the active roles to achieve the national aims mainly in achieving better life quality of all people.

c.     Participate in implementiation and in development of national education systrem;

d.     To increase the awareness, attitude, quality and professional capability of teachers and other education personels;

e.     To save and increase the status of teachers by increasing the member’s welfare and solidarity.

 

5.  EXECUTIVE BOARD

     The structure of Executive board:

a.    National Executive Board: for the national level, located in the capital of state (Jakarta), consist of 25  executive members;

b.    Provincial Executive Board: for the provincial level, located in the capital of Province, There are 33 provincies and ecah consists of 19 executive members;

c.     District or City Exacutive Board: for the district or city level, located in the capital of district or city. There are 412 districts/cities and ecah consist of 17 executive members.

d.    Branch Executive Board: for sub-district level or special working units, located in the capital sub-district or at the special working units. There are 4.188 branches and each consists of 15 executive members.

e.    Sub-branch Executive Board: for village level or lowest working unit, located at working units or villages level. There are 68.139 sub-branches and each consists of 5 executive members.  

 

 

6.  MEMBERS OF PGRI:

      To become a member of PGRI should:

a citizen of Indonesia

a.    a teacher or an educational personel

b.    by self will to be a member and has to fill the application form

c.    other qualifications according to PGRI Statute.

 

       There are three kind of membership: regular member, extra member, and  honorary member.

       Total members of PGRI through out of Indonesia: 1,6 million peoples (more

       and less 80% of all teachers in the country).

 

 

7.  THE ORGANS OF PGRI:

To support the implementation of tasks and programs, PGRI has some   organs:

a.      YPLP-PGRI (Yayasan Pembina Lembaga Pendidikan PGRI), the foundation for managing and developing PGRI school in all level. Currently, YPLP-PGRI managing 903 kindergartens, 23 primary schools, 1.829 junior high schools, 621 general senior high school, 318, vocational senior high schools, and 58 higher education institution (universities, institutes, academies, colleges). b.      LKBH (Lembaga Konsultasi Bantuan Hukum), that providing law services and consultation for teachers/PGRI members;

c.      BP-GGI (Badan Pengelola Gedung Guru Indonesia), that managing the utilization of Teachers Building and its facilities).

d.      PT HARAPAN MASA; the business unit for supporting teachers welfare;

e.      Induk Koperasi PGRI (Central Coperative of PGRI), the coperative institution for increasing member’s welfare;

f.       Majalah Suara Guru (Teachers Voice Magazine), the monthly magazine as a media communication for all members including the executive board.

 

 

8.  COOPERATION AND PARTNERSHIP

To support the implementation PGRI programs and actiivities, PGRI has developed good cooperation and partnership with other institution or organization at national as well as regional and international level. At the national level PGRI has developed a good cooperation and partnership with several goverment institution/organization and non-government institution/organization. At the regional level PGRI as a part of ACT (Asean Council of Teachers) and at international level, PGRI becomes a member of Education International (EI), that has 29 million members comes from 346 teacher organizations from 166 countries and teritories.

  • Guangzhou, China, 14 Desember 2010, PGRI telah menandatangani MoU dengan South China Normal University dalam rangka peningkatan profesionalisme guru.

  • Konferensi Kerja Nasional III PGRI Tahun 2011

    27-30 Januari 2011
    Provinsi Gorontalo

  • Seoul, 5 Maret 2011, Penandatanganan Kerja sama antara PB PGRI dengan Korean Federation of Teachers Association. Kerja sama di antaranya tentang Joint Research, Workshop, dll.

  • Mohon peralihan dana BOS ke  Pemda di tinjau kembali karena sangat mempersulit sekolah. Dalam pembelian harus dilampirkan NPWP. SIUP dan SPK dari tempat pengambilan dana BOS di kantor Pos harus ada Rekomendasi dari Dinas.

  • RAKORNAS 2011, Jakarta Grand Cempaka Hotel

    Membahas berbagai persoalan guru, pendidikan, dan organisasi serta Proker sesuai Keputusan Konkernas III Gorontalo, PB PGRI mengundang Saudara Ketua dan Sekretaris Pengurus PGRI Provinsi untuk menghadiri acara Rakornas PGRI Tahun 2011 di Grand Cempaka Hotel, Jakarta 29 - 31 Mei 2011.
